A biblically based resource to address family-of-origin issues. I'm convinced this book meets the needs right where people live and will impact families for generations to come.

Tips for Facilitators

We are delighted that you are considering or have agreed to facilitate a group using the SYFF resource.

You do not need to be a therapist or even someone who has a good understanding of family systems to be an effective facilitator.

Effective facilitators will:
a.    Have some experience in facilitating groups;
b.    Have an interest in helping persons become better parents;
c.    Be able to encourage discussion and reflection of parents in the group;
d.    Have completed a personal genogram before facilitating the group;
e.    Recognize when a parent(s) is dealing with issues that require the help of a professional and suggest appropriate assistance.

The SYFF Leader’s Guide is designed to provide facilitators with suggestions for leading the group.

The following ideas are those selected from those suggested by facilitators. This list will grow as suggestions are made.

•    Remember to gain a consensus about confidentiality at the beginning of the group experience. This will help to built trust.
•    Complete your own genogram before beginning the class. As appropriate, share what you are learning from your own genogram. The class is not about you, but appropriate disclosure help to create openness among participants.
